Nhongo Safaris® is a South African Registered Business, specialising in Safaris to the world renowned Kruger National Park, South Africa. Our legendary Safaris over the past 19 years have ensured that we know what our visitors crave and adore.

We have frequent guests that prefer the standard tour options, whilst other regulars prefer a tailor – made package.

Our options span the spectrum of Safari tours across the board; from student packages (on limited budgets) right through to 5 – Star rated visits.

Nhongo Safaris® was established by Verity and Dean Cherry, with well over 25 years of experience in the hospitality and travel industries.

Director Social Media

Kerilouise in charge of all queries and Reservations for the Kruger National Park as well as Reception duties. Kerilouise is busy with her Business Management Diploma on a part-time basis. She is also in charge of all Day Safari Bookings and the Co-ordination of vehicles and guides for these safaris. She would love to be able to fit in her guide’s license in order to be able to drive an Open Safari Vehicle.


Director Reservations

Sean in charge of all bookings and queries that come through to the office as well as all finances he reports to Verity . Sean is busy with his Business Management Diploma and is currently studying his National Field Guides License.


Director Operations

Craig is the Operations Manager of Nhongo Safaris® South Africa. Craig runs all company operations by making sure all guides and vehicles are up to scratch and ready for safaris. Craig is a seasoned manager with a large anti-poaching background, having worked in follow-up operations as well as the K9 Operations Unit. Craig is also a professional guide with the Zimbabwe Professional Guides Association (ZPGHA). If you come on safari, you might get the chance to meet Craig as he goes about his task of getting all that is needed sorted out.

Managing Director and Qualified Game Ranger

Dean has been working in the greater Kruger National Park and the Kruger National Park for the last twenty years. His passion is the bush and he has insurmountable knowledge when it comes to the fauna, flora and mammals found in the Kruger National Park. Dean hates to be stuck in an office so you will normally find him conducting one of your safaris as he is a hands on man. Dean is also Vice Chairman of SATSA Mpumalanga Chapter, and puts a lot of time into growing the SATSA membership base in the province, thereby helping bring awareness to the South African Tourism Industry in the benefits of been a SATSA member.



All Administration duties and day to day running of Nhongo Safaris ®™ including all Marketing decisions for the company and when needed backup guide for the Kruger National Park. Verity is also the head Chef for our larger groups who prefer to have their meals prepared under the stars instead of eating in the camps restaurants.


Director Operations

Wayne is one of the Directors of Nhongo Safaris®(PTY) LTD. Wayne has more than 20 years’ experience in the tourism industry in Zimbabwe, he is a highly qualified guide, and a member of the Zimbabwe Professional Guides Association (ZPGHA). Wayne heads up the Operations section in Zimbabwe, keeping everything running on course. Wayne is a very hands on person, so don’t be shocked when you meet him on one of your safaris, making sure everything is running smoothly.



Field Guide

Gert has been guiding for the past 11 years, he strives to offer fulfilling, informative and enjoyable safari experiences in an environmentally responsible and ethical manner. Birding, wildlife, Photography, nature and the protection of the environment and natural resources are his true passion and priorities.

Kara’s dream to become a field guide started developing when she spent every July holiday in the African Bush with her family, learning to appreciate everything from small to big. Kara has been a qualified guide for the past 6 years and has a big interest in birds, photography and sharing how everything you see comes together.


Field Guide

Amanda is originally from the UK but her love for wildlife brought her to South Africa 12 years ago where she started her studies. Amanda has a “young at Heart” approach to life and guiding which makes her very approachable and fun to be around, her sense of humor and passion for nature will contribute greatly to your safari experience.



Field Guide

Clint is an extremely passionate individual about the African Bushveld and all its inhabitants. He is a qualified FGASA Field Guide having previously worked in Namibia and conducted extensive safaris in that country. He makes a fun, knowledgeable guide which will add to your Kruger National Park experience.




Dez does the transporting of guests to and from the Kruger National Park. He is easygoing and is always ready to assist when needed. Dez has a love for Nature and Wildlife and enjoys going on a Game drive in the Park whenever possible.



Lenit does the transporting of guests together with Dez to and from the Kruger National Park. He is easy going, fun and is always ready to assist you when needed. Lenit is a peoples person who has a love for Wildlife and the natural environment.


Open Safari Vehicle Chauffer

Jan assists Shannon with the driving of the open safari vehicles in the Kruger National Park. He has a great interest in wildlife and nature and is currently learning all about the animals and their habitats, he would one day like to do his guiding’s license.

Patrick and Prisca

Cleaning Staff

Prisca has worked for Nhongo Safaris ® for 9 years now and she is our tea lady and makes sure our Offices are always in good order, as we begin our days work. Both Patrick and Prisca are very enthusiastic about the Toursim Industry and will be furthering their interest in this profession as they move forward with Nhongo Safaris ®.
