Lower Sabie

Under the magnificent silhouette of the impressive Lebombo Mountains and flanked by the majestic Sabie river, visitors to Lower Sabie restcamp can enjoy a wide variety of bird life and wildlife populations.

The Lower Sabie restcamp, embracing the banks of the river, accommodates guests in comfortable bungalows with en-suite bathrooms and fully equipped kitchenettes to include air-conditioning, making accommodation at Lower Sabie restcamp a breeze of comfort and convenience. The scenic grounds of the camp exhibit the striking natural beauty of the area that is so well defined by the indigenous sycamores.

Activities at the Lower Sabie restcamp include Sunset Dam outings and excursions to the famous Nthandanyati Bird Hide, while the bushy area is exceptionally good for spotting elephant, lion, cheetah, hippo, rhino and buffalo. Birding makes for an exclusive and vibrant experience, with a variety of beautiful birds for the avid bird watcher.

Nestled into marula savannah and knob thorns, the area boasts leafy, succulent trees making it a shady, attractive setting to explore the African bush, spot wildlife, watch birds and enjoy a refreshing sundowner in the sticky orange twilight of the African dusk.

"Our guide was Gert and it ended up being myself and my fiance only on the your, despite not having booked a private safari. Gert was brilliant. His knowledge of the park, animals and birds was encyclopaedic and entertaining. He had a great dry sense of humour, laid back and tried to facilitate our requests. The accommodation and food etc were nice, but the safari was just great. Highly recommended."

Three of us did the budget/economy tour and were surprised at how amazing it was for being a "budget tour". The drive to/from Johannesburg with Dez was smooth. The lodge was perfect; a really nice place and the meals were delicious. The best part of the tour was our guide, Robbie Williams. Robbie is extremely experienced and with him we saw the big 5 plus more. I would recommend nhongo to anyone!

Robbie was the most fantastic guide! He really took his time to explain everything to us and went out of his way to give us the best experience/time. Waking up for a game drive with him even after a short night was the biggest pleasure and we couldn't have asked for anything better!! Thank you so very much!!
